There are only 17 original Olmecs Heads in the world, and four are in Mexico. The other heads are on private collections in other countries. In the ecologic reserve in Nanciyaga, Veracruz, we can find one of these original heads. They represent actual people from the Olmec civilization; they were great leaders, warriors, or important people during their time. The ornaments on the heads give some clues of their occupations or social role to them. One important aspect of these heads is that their faces belong to people with african heritage but in America long before Columbus’s journeys.
